Name: Austerops couvinensis van Viersen, Taghon & Magrean, 2017
Stratigraphy: Jemelle Formation, middle Eifelian
Locality: Couvin, Belgium

Austerops couvinensis bears many similarities to Austerops kermiti and Austerops salamandar from Eifelian strata in Morocco. Those species can be discriminated from ours by their effaced palpepral furrow, the less steeply inclined visual surfaces, more numerous tubercles on glabella that form terrace lines, narrower palpebral area, and less pronounced pygidial axial sculpture.
